Throwback Jam of the Week: "Satisfaction"-Eve

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great hit from back in the day!

As the former first lady of Ruff Ryders Entertainment, Eve definitely brought some hits in the late '90s and '00s, and "Satisfaction" was one of them for me. It's a banger, but also still really motivating to reach higher heights in my own career!

Check out the video below!

Good morning everyone...hope you all had a great Christmas and were able to spend time with your loved ones for the holidays! Here's some #MondayMotivation to get you back into the swing of things!

Whatever that goal is as we head into 2017, put your all into it! Whether it's starting your own business, advancing with your side hustle, or losing weight. Give it everything you have! Otherwise, don't get mad at your lack of results. Simply put, you reap what you sow!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "8 Days of Christmas"-Destiny's Child

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another jam from back in the day!

Since Christmas is Sunday, this one is only right. This week's throwback jam is one of my favorite holiday songs from my favorite group, Destiny's Child! "8 Days of Christmas" was fun and perfect for the holidays, and the video was really cute. I literally played it all the time, and still do. Matter of fact, after my parents finally let me have a CD player of my own, DC's album, titled 8 Days of Christmas, was my first official CD as a kid, and I played that thing ALL year round.

Go back in time with me below!

NEW MUSIC: "All Back To You"-R&B/Pop Singer Juliane

Montreal-based R&B pop singer/songwriter Juliane releases her first Christmas single, "All Back To You!"

Recorded and arranged by Albert Chambers (Juno-nominated songwriter/producer) and mixed by Gabe Gallucci (Shawn Mendez, Disney), the song showcases Juliane's soulful voice with magical holiday vibes as she sings to her significant other.

Good morning everyone! Hope you all had a great and productive weekend. Here's some #MondayMotivation to start your week off strong!

I can only speak for myself regarding this quote, but following my passion of writing and entertainment has opened several opportunities where indeed there were only walls. When I first started, I had no experience and was just starting my degree, but I knew at a young age what I ultimately wanted to do. So I followed it by starting this site, which led to more and more doors opening.

At the end of the day, when you go after your bliss, your true purpose in life wholeheartedly, the doors will undoubtedly open. You just have to keep going!

Meagan Good To Play 'Foxy Brown' For Hulu Series

Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic

Meagan Good is about to give us a fresh new spin on Foxy Brown

The actress is set to star in a remake of the blaxploitation classic, whose title was played amazingly by Pam Grier back in the 70s. Hulu is set to bring the popular movie into 2016 with a "modern reimagining" as a TV show while still keeping the focus on the female action hero.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Come On Over (All I Want Is You)"-Christina Aguilera

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another hit from back in the day!

In the late 90s and early 2000s, the pop world was really booming. Christina Aguilera was undoubtedly a part of that, knocking us out with her powerful and completely unexpected voice! Rising in 1999 as a solo singer with her debut self-titled album, she gave us that blue eyed soul, and still does (waiting on a new album, girl!).

One of the hits from that album was definitely "Come On Over." I remember being a kid and just completely blown away by her vocals when I heard this track. It was really fun to dance to, and I couldn't help but TRY to hit her incredible runs.

MUSIC VIDEO: "Black is Gold"-Wale

Wale shows love to the beautiful black girls and women of the world in his new song "Black Is Gold" and accompanying visual!

Rapping over classic track "Lady" from D'Angelo, Wale created the track as a means of inspiration and way to show love to black women in a society that doesn't always appreciate them. The music video is filled with beautiful black women just hanging out and loving life as Wale raps. "This is for every beautiful queen listening that may sometimes think we forget you due to this bulls**t system...let's celebrate the awesomeness that is our sisters," Wale says towards the end.

Good morning y'all...here's some #MondayMotivation to get your work week started off right!

A lot of us have A LOT going on, and, I don't know about you, but there are plenty of days where I want to do absolutely NOTHING. There are plenty of things that I have to do behind the scenes outside of just writing to push my career and life forward that I highkey can't stand. However, you do what you have to do to get to where you want to be.

That's why this quote from the late Muhammad Ali stood out to me. Even the greatest was annoyed by the work that he had to put in to be the greatest. However, he refused to stop, knowing that it was key to attaining the life and future he wanted for himself. That's where I'm at now. What about you?

MUSIC VIDEO: "Woman"-Diana Gordon

Singer Diana Gordon (formerly known as Wynter Gordonhas dropped her debut music video for empowering single “Woman!”

Directed by Cameron McCool. the visual features Diana alongside beautiful pregnant women traveling through the city, as an anthem celebrating womanhood. "We all wanted to capture the incredible beauty of this ancient magic called 'creation of life," Diana said of choosing the women. "I also wanted to give them classic beautiful images to show their children when they were older. The artist added, "This song, that is rock & roll reincarnated, that celebrates your mother, my mother, your sister, and my sister is just my way to stand up for the woman next to me and all those unseen. We need each other and the world really needs us right now.”

Candace Cameron Bure is Leaving The View

Another co-host at The View is moving on

Candace Cameron Bure has made the announcement that she is leaving The View after over a year on the show. “It’s a little bittersweet for me because I’m announcing that I will be leaving The View,” she said at the beginning of the show. "It wasn’t an easy decision, but before I started The View, I already had my commitments to Fuller House and my work with the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies and Mysteries.”

This makes another co-host down, since Raven-Symone announced her exit from the series recently to focus on a reboot of That's So Raven.

MOVIE TRAILER: 'Baywatch' Starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron

The official trailer for the Baywatch remake is here, and it's looks like it's going to be a very wild time on the beach!

Dwayne Johnson, who stars in the film along with Zac Efron, dropped the trailer on Twitter Thursday morning, giving us a look into what the remake brings to the table. Dwayne stars as veteran lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, who has to deal with reckless, gold medal swimmer Matt Brody (played by Zac), who joins the Baywatch crew. Of course, they have issues working together, but team up to fight against crime led by the movie's villain Victoria Leeds (Priyanka Chopra)!

Throwback Jam of the Week: "1, 2 Step"- Ciara feat. Missy Elliott

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're going back in time again with another throwback jam of the week!

This week's throwback is one of my favorites from Ciara! When she first hit the scene back in 2004 with her smash hit, "Goodies," everyone was so impressed with her dance skills and flair. And we all almost broke our backs trying to do her version of the Matrix (I was on it when I was younger....but now? HA!). Another hit was "1,2 Step" featuring Missy Elliott, with Ciara's signature 1, 2 Step, which was simple but so much fun!

I had forgot just how much I used to love this song. My Zumba instructor used this song recently for one of our dances in class, and I was going IN!  And, 12 years later, Ciara's still killing it on stage, especially on the dance tip. She's more chill right now since she's pregnant with her baby with husband Russell Wilson, but I'm sure she's getting right back to it afterwards!

Got some new music this morning — a new EP from R&B singer Khari King, entitled "Messy Painter!"

The EP, which includes track may b, goes through the ups and downs of a relationship, with Khari truly in love with a special woman and wanting their relationship to stand the test of time. Not only is the project really relatable, but Khari's smooth vocals are soothing to listen to. This is definitely a great project to check out, especially for all of the R&B lovers like me out there!

The 2017 Grammy Nominations Are In!

The Grammys

The 59th annual Grammy Awards are soon approaching, and the nominees have officially been announced!

With Adele and Beyonce leading the pack (duh), and so many other great projects nominated, the competition is definitely going to be tight! My biggest hope this year is that Solange wins Best R&B Performance for "Cranes In The Sky" because it (and A Seat at the Table) was outstanding! I know that Bey will win something and Adele will too, but Solange definitely deserves a Grammy for her album.

See who was nominated for what awards below!

With production from Andrew Conner, the four-track EP officially dropped on November 25th. The soulful and honest project, available now on iTunes, expresses Taylor's own life experiences — good and bad. "The EP's title reflects how it even came about. I had all these songs that meant a whole lot to me that I just needed to get 'out of my system' and into the world," the singer revealed. Another Monday is here, and it's back to the grind! Here's some #MondayMotivation to help you get inspired!

This quote is for those who think that it's too late to go after what you want. You're too old. You're too busy now. You've should started sooner. If there is something that you're passionate about, go after it! No matter how long it takes, or how slow it seems like you're moving, as long as you're still breathing, there's still time.

Good morning all...hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving! It's back to the grind for many of us, so here's some #MondayMotivation to get you through!

This is definitely one of my favorite quotes of all time. We truly are what we repeatedly do, so the only way to be successful is to make moves in excellence consistently. It's not just one win or one big achievement. It's consistently working towards your goals every day. Keep grinding!

NEW MUSIC: "Ya Vibe"-Soul/Reggae Artist Ayotemi feat. Keith Jone$

Excited to bring some new music from soul/reggae artist Ayotemi — a track entitled, "Ya Vibe," feat. Keith Jone$!

According to a press release, the track "reflects on self-love and warns about the tendency to look to others for inner balance and peace." The mellow track is real cool to listen to, but also inspiration to know and love yourself, and, because of that self-love, have a certain set of standards that you live by.  At least that's what I immediately took from it. It's definitely an important track, especially for the ladies out there.

Listen to "Ya Vibe" below!

The 2016 American Music Awards were last night, and we've got the winners!

Rihanna, Drake, and Justin Bieber were definitely the big winners of the night with multiple awards, but it looks like Ariana Grande took home the most coveted AMA! The night, hosted by Jay Pharoah and Gigi Hadid, definitely had some surprising wins and losses, as well as a bunch of great performances and...interesting moments, like Gigi's impression of Melania Trump that's setting the Internet on fire right now apparently.

Good morning everyone! It's a short week with the Thanksgiving holiday and all, but here's some #MondayMotivation for those of us still putting in work!

MUSIC REVIEW: "Long Live the Angels"-Emeli Sandé

Emeli Sande Long Live The Angels

It's been over four years since Emeli Sandé dropped her debut album, Our Version of Events, back in 2012, and I've been anxiously awaiting more music from her ever since.

Sure, she dropped a few songs and was featured on collabs here and there, but not a full project, and I've been literally craving more! So when the singer-songwriter revealed that she would be dropping her sophomore album, Long Live The Angels, I was too happy. Emeli is an amazing creative, and her vocals are off the charts, so I was ready for whatever she had for us.

I decided to take some time with this album before I reviewed (as I will with all of my reviews in the future), to read the lyrics, do some research and digging on the subject, and truly listen to the music. Long Live The Angels is proof that, sadly, heartbreak and pain brings about some of your best work. With her debut, which was still great, Emeli focused on more inspiring themes about love, being a good person, hope for the world. A few break up songs, but it was mostly positive. However, this one is even more personal, heartbreaking, and vulnerable, after Emeli's divorce from her longtime love, Adam Gouraguine, in November 2014. Throughout the album, Emeli takes on her journey to recovery, as we hear her express her hurt and loneliness behind the break up, but, ultimately, her hope for a better future for herself.

Chelsea and Raven Return To Disney For That's So Raven Spin-Off

Astrid Stawiarz/Getty Images

Raven and Chelsea are back together again!

For all fans of "That's So Raven" like myself, Raven's best friend Chelsea played by Anneliese van der Pol will be joining Raven-Symoné for the recently announced spin-off show, which is set to start production on Disney in early 2017!

The premise of the show is that both friends are recently divorced with kids -- Raven with two kids, Nia and Booker, and Chelsea with son Levin. Levin is described as arrogant and manipulative while one of Raven's kids will be inheriting her gift for seeing into the future. Hopefully, Orlando Brown can clean himself up and get his life on track for a cameo!

Stay tuned to The Spotlight for more info about the show as it's revealed.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "In Love Wit Chu" Da Brat ft. Cherish

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Today's throwback jam is a track that I love from Da Brat..."In Love Wit Chu" featuring R&B group Cherish on the hook! From Brat's last studio album back in 2003, Limelite, Luv & Niteclubz, this single was upbeat and catchy, and great to dance too, even in my early teens. Like I really was in love with anybody back then!

Da Brat was absolutely beautiful in this video, and Cherish popped in too. We also saw cameos from Roy Jones and Mariah Carey, as well as a lot of eye candy for us ladies! Definitely one of my favorites from the early 2000s, especially in the summertime!

We got a chance to touch on all this and more in her interview....check it out below!

EMM's mixtape, Burning in the Dark

Released on October 31, the tape features EMM's stunning vocals, songwriting, and production skills! The music speaks on relationships and other topics but also empowerment, (like on track "Killer Queen),  something that EMM says her brand is all about, especially as a female producer. Good morning everyone! Yeah, it's Monday again, but shake off those blues with some #MondayMotivation

This quote is something that I personally have struggled with. In the past, I've worried so much about failing that I have skipped out on opportunities that could've helped me grow in where I want to go. That only ended up hurting me. Failure is going to come. It's truly inevitable. However, you can't be so concerned with falling that you don't even take a leap. You never know what will come if you only TRY.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Cry For You"-Jodeci

It's Throwback Thursday, and we've got another great jam from back in the day!

Today's throwback jam comes from the legendary R&B group, Jodeci! Their song, "Cry For You," from their second album, Diary of a Mad Band, blew up to #1 on the Hot R&B Singles chart. These guys definitely weren't too proud to beg and profess love of the ladies in their music. Plus, their vocals and harmonies were off the charts!!!

This is my personal favorite from the group, and honestly makes me wish I was old enough in the 90s to really vibe and enjoy the music back then. This video, though...HA! Black guys in leather in the desert is not a great combo theoretically, but, can't even lie, Jodeci made it look good!

Hillary Clinton Creates Her Own Version of the #MannequinChallenge

Today is Election Day, and I really want to stress the importance of everyone going out and casting their vote, if they haven't already!

Hillary Clinton came through with her own version of the #MannequinChallenge, creating the popular trend on her campaign plane with her team! This doesn't influence my voting, but still really cool to watch her do it (and Bill too)! Quiet, but still got the point across:

MUSIC VIDEO: "Savage"-Kalin White

New music video this morning! Check out this visual from singer Kalin White for his track, "Savage!

On Nov. 4, Kalin, known for his previous stint in hip hop duo Kalin and Myles, released the video for the track, which is the second single from his debut solo project, Chapter 21. The song, and the video itself definitely presents a unique view on relationships. In an interview with Rap-Up, Kalin said of the video, "These days it seems normal for men to be the ones to blame in relationships. I wrote this song about a lil' shorty I was talking to and she ended up being a savage, who knew? In this video, you'll see the roles switched up on me."

Indeed! The piece, directed by David Camerena, follows Kalin as he's walking through L.A.'s Chinatown, only to get sneak attacked and kidnapped! And the kidnapper...turns out to be his lady!

Watch the visual below!

Good morning everyone....shake off those Monday blues with some #MondayMotivation!

This quote is a simple but good one from my fave, Beyoncé from a past performance at Made in America, and it stuck with me. Life isn't easy. At 26, I'm still young, but I still have lived a good bit. Long enough to know that you go through plenty of ups and downs, and curveballs are thrown at you from all sides, but you have to push through regardless! Whether it be your work, your side hustle, your fitness journey, whatever. Challenge yourself to work harder, even in the midst of struggles.

MUSIC VIDEO: "Never Needed Me"- Alt-Rock Band The Middle Ground

Nashville's own alternative rock band, The Middle Ground, has dropped their video for their latest track, "Never Needed Me!"

The song is the first single off of the group's upcoming album Start Again (to be released on December 2). The song itself is really high energy, and the super colorful video that accompanies it matches that energy as the group performs. However, lead singer Joe Neary mentioned that the song has a great meaning. In an interview with Substream Magazine, the singer said,
"At the surface, it’s an energetic, catchy tune, but for those who choose to dive deeper, there is a message we are proud of in the lyrics themselves. With the video we wanted to try and capture the energy we feel when playing the song live. It’s a song we’ve closed our shows with, so adding all the colors and making it more of a performance was what we felt would show how much this song means to us. This is the first piece of much more to come and we hope you enjoy it!”

NEW MUSIC: "Be There For Me"- Soul Singer Mariam

New music this morning! Check out this track from the UK's own soul/pop singer Mariam titled "Be There For Me!"

The upbeat song focuses on unrequited love, where Mariam just wants her significant other to give the same care to her that she gives herself. No matter what she tries, it's just not clicking with this person. "It speaks about that moment you realize you can’t make anyone love you or reciprocate affection," she said of the track. The track is also the debut single from Mariam's debut EP, Heart To Heart, which will be released this Friday!

Listen to "Be There For Me" below!

Good morning everybody...HAPPY HALLOWEEN! Here's some #MondayMotivation to help get you through the week!

As many of us heavily going after our goals know, there's a lot of sacrifice that comes along with that. A LOT.  And I used to feel like I had to explain certain moves that I made or didn't make in my life concerning my writing career. And yet, people wouldn't understand, which was frustrating to me.

When I read this quote for the first time a long while back, I realized that you can't truly expect people to understand the path that God has put you on. You just have to keep doing your own thing regardless. Some people will get it and support, and others won't, and you have to be okay with that. Just keep grinding.

Throwback Jam of the Week: "Déjà Vu-Beyoncé

It's Throwback Thursday, and we're back with another great jam from back in the day!

Everyone who knows me knows just how much I love Beyoncé...as does the majority of the world. Even the ones who don't can't really deny her talent and success!

So, on this Thursday, I dedicate Throwback Thursday to her with one of my favorite dance tracks by her, Déjà Vu! The 2006 track featuring Bey's husband Jay-Z, the lead single off of her second album B'Day), definitely wasn't the biggest hit of her career. However, to me, it was electrifying to watch every time she performed it. Case in point, the 2006 BET Awards (even 10 years later, that choreography still stands out my mind!). Every time I hear it, I want to dance!
